Imagine a timeline where the Cold War and space race never ended leading to a much more advanced world.

-snip-

I think the show For All Mankind already explores this idea, with the POD being Sergei Korolev's Doesn't Die Young in 1966 (yay!). In fact, the show runs with an alternate history setting with an epic opening every season, showing how the more advanced space race has changed society.

From what I can gather, thanks to greater technological advances, culture and society are more accepting of sci-fi.

The N-1 rocket was unstable and unfinished. I would rather bet on Chelomey with his UR-700 (which Korolev repeatedly prevented). It is also interesting that he was one of the authors of the Light Space Plane project (roughly speaking, a smaller Shuttle, although an earlier one).

By the way, I just watched the first landing scene. I have a number of complaints. Firstly, most likely the Americans did not conduct a live broadcast. The USSR had a bad habit of classifying everything possible - the fact that the flight was a lunar flight would be reported after landing (that is, they would first report the flight, but would not announce the purpose). Moreover, this is not an American flight, and I don’t think that Soviet radio communications would be available to US journalists. So after confirmation, American news would quote a TASS report that would sound something like this:
Today, April ..., 1969, at ...... Moscow time, during the mission of the Soyuz-7 spacecraft, for the first time in the history of humankind, an envoy from the Earth landed on the surface of the Moon - a citizen of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, hero of the Soviet Union, pilot Colonel Alexey Arkhipovich Leonov.
I also don’t like the text that Leonov had to say. Firstly - What is the “Marxist-Leninist way of life”? There was no such combination of words in the Soviet official lexicon. There were “Soviet Way of Life” (a rare phrase by the way) and “ideas of Marxism-Leninism.” In general, the main phrase should refer to Tsiolkovsky (one of the founders of rocket science in Russia, and the author (one of them) of the ideal rocket equation, and in general for the Soviet Consciousness an important person on a par with Lenin) - he owns the quote “A planet is the cradle of mind , but one cannot live in a cradle forever." Which can be paraphrased as “Humanity has finally stepped beyond its cradle!”

Well, it's an American TV that cares more about story than petty things like accuracy or a genuine alternate history. What are you gonna do?

This series has nuclear fusion, the ultimate sci-fi wish fulfillment.

There's a TL concept in my mind
Ok.
In summer 2013, a prodigy 10 years girls accidentally listened the 2Pac and Biggie, from that moment she fell in love with old school hip hop

She noticed that in mid 2010s , the old school isn't the mainstream anymore, she decided to take it back.

Since winter 2013, she published a lot the old school style rap songs which written by herself on YouTube, and meanwhile using vine to gain more attention.

After one year, she became the most popular and youngest rapper in the world, like Kris Kross in 1992. Ice Cube , Dr Dre ,Snoop Dogg , Eminem, 50 cent and Nas ,all of them affirmed her.

People were shocked by her lyrical talent.

In TTL 2016, old school style rap became the mainstream again since 2007,
Holy crap.........You're saying a kid brought back old-school hip-hop?
it strangles the career of Cardi B, Doja cat, Lil pump and 6ix9ine.

Basically mumble rap is dead
Nice. I never really thought those rappers had any real talent. 6ix9ine was alright for a hot second, but he just fell off too fast.
But XXXtentaction still popular, despite his music style isn't old school , and he never killed in 2018
I love that X survives. Can we also save Lil Peep?
This girl also encouraged more children to become the artist, Like musicians Finn Wolfhard and his indie rock band Calpurnia , they became as big as Coldplay or Green Day, bring back the popularity of rock music to Gen Z generation
That's great to hear, and even would give TTL's me more inspiration considering I like rock music. Who's Finn Wolfhard and Calpurnia tho? Are they real?
Also this girl and Kids rap group Bar and Melody became the best friend, this group won the golden buzzer by Simon Cowell in 2014, they love old school as well.

In late 2010s,the music ecology is totally different from OTL. the popular music genre have:
That's great.
Old School hip hop
Emo Rap (lead by XXXTENTACTION)
Teenager rock music
Indie Rock
EDM (Avicii never died saved the late 2010s EDM)
Gen Z emo (lead by Billie Elish)
Great! How could we save Avicii?
In TTL, nobody thinks that “Oh music nowadays is suck and doomed!”

Here's other things which changed by the butterfly effect :
Ok.
August 2014, after seeing a genius young girl shining her light to the younger generation, Robin Williams decided lived longer
How?
Musically released in 2014, but it's a big failure, it lead to Tiktok never created
Well....at least TikTok doesn't exist....
Vine never died

EDM never died
Cool!
Harambe incident never happened
Yeah...it's a shame what happened to Harambe.
Paul Walker never died in November 2013 (Pod August 2013)

Stephen Hillenburg and Chadwick Boseman never died in 2018
Ok.
There's a new rap genre which called " Classic hip hop" , old school hip hop mix with classical music
Classical Hip Hop? I wonder how this would song.
Political correctness never took the Movie industry

Millie Bobby Brown became the actress and rapper
At least Millie Bobby Brown would be known more beyond just being Eleven in Stranger Things.
Corona still just a beer in TTL 2023

Cancel culture isn't a thing

KPOP isn't that popular

Stan Lee died in 2021 instead of 2018

Christina Grimmie never killed
Ok.
Disney never action remake of their old animation
Would they make more animated movies?
Gravity Falls and Regular show still on the TV in TTL 2023
How would they look like by now?
YouTube 2018 rewind is actually good
Yeah.....crazy how bad that was....
Smosh never went downhill after 2015

Kobe Bryant never died in 2020

One Direction still around, never broke up

Lady Gaga and Kesha still popular

The rock bands like American Author, One Republic, The Vamps, 5 Seconds Of Summer is popular in TTL 2023
These are all good ideas.
An alternate 2010s where Game of Thrones and MCU are still popular but the J.J. Abrams Trek and Wars movies are either duds or not made and sci fi experiences a renaissance on TV.
That's nice.
In this TL "Syfy" either goes out of business or re-brands and gives us much higher quality sci fi programing.

In 2013 adaptations of "Fallout" and "Mass Effect" are brought to the small screen and the success of them inspires more enthusiastic support for nuclear arms reduction and more funding for space exploration worldwide.

Also during 2013 the "Discovery Channel" or "History Channel" airs a miniseries in the style of a documentary set in a fictional timeline, "For All Mankind" portraying a vision of an alternate world where the space race continued leading to accelerated scientific and technological development through 5-10 episodes.

It would be like "Star Trek Axanar".

Also "Tron: Uprising" and "Sym-Bionic Titan" become the most popular cartoons of the early to mid 2010s.

These are great! And I love that TRON Uprising and Sym-Bionic Titan lasts longer! Also, Syfy could get back to basics.

Holy crap.........You're saying a kid brought back old-school hip-hop?
Yes
Can we also save Lil Peep?
Yes
How could we save Avicii?
Butterfly
Butterfly, Robin saw there's a still hope in the world from that girl
Who's Finn Wolfhard and Calpurnia tho? Are they real?
Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things
Calpurnia is real, his indie OTL band

Thermonuclear fusion is still possible.

In fact, perhaps I’m being picky, but what’s more important to me here is that the Soviet Union is often portrayed inauthentically. I understand that this is a problem of general “generalization” and “simplification” in pop media. But Soviet people are often portrayed as being different from themselves - even when they are portrayed in a positive light. Therefore, yes - because of this I found fault with the astronaut’s speech.

Well, remember America and Russia haven't exactly been buddies, so Hollywood writers aren't gonna let silly things like authenticity get in the way of a good story.

this also follow all the cliches of cold war, FAM is just... too fantasy. more fantasy that science

Sorry for the politics, but I'll say it.

I want everything to be like it was before - when Samus turned out to be a girl, and no one was indignant about it. I also want there to be no exploitation of women, rape, harassment, etc. - so that sexualized characters don’t cause such concern.

Sorry again - I’ve just been indignant since yesterday.

An alternate history where during the 2010s alternate history space race fiction taking place starting from the 60s became big in pop culture.

The "Sci-Fi" channel doesn't rebrand to "Syfy" and makes a show on the same level of quality as the 2003 Battlestar Galactica reboot where the space race was used as a cover for much more advanced space programs that were able to land humans on a planet in another solar system with alien technology. The show goes from the 50s to the early 2000s. The different factions have conflicts and struggle to keep their programs under wraps.

Or would a concept where the USA, Soviet Union, and Western Europe/Japan/India sends generation ships to different solar systems during the 60s and they end up landing on planets with alien tech and they end up finding Earth went through a nuclear war in the 80s be a better idea?

HBO makes show about a generation ship developed during the 1960s with the producers of OTL "Westworld". Unlike "Ascension" it actually takes place in space.

AMC makes a show much like OTL "For All Mankind".

The History Channel makes a miniseries like a documentary but set in a fictional world where the space race continued.

Hmm...

I think the degeneration of Sci Fi to Syfy was part of a broader trend of "network decay." I think you need a POD in which cable networks don't drop their standards (hahaha).

Other than that, this other stuff sounds pretty cool.

What happened? Samus always have been a girl,

I'm afraid that what it really means is that he/she doesn't want outrage at Samus's gender reveal surprise, nor does the poster want said gender to be carnally desired to such an extent as in our timeline.

As for why this is the case, I don't want to know.

We need his answer but nobody give a shit back them,

Well, this refers to the drama around Hades 2 - at the same time, the news that the new protagonist will be a woman caused a strong reaction from misogynists. And at the time, Samus's exposure did not cause so much negativity. And we've had plenty of female protagonists over the years.

I'm just following one game right now, and I fell into a whirlpool of dramas - from "uglification" to sexual objectification. In the end, due to my stupidity, I ruined my day.

Did Hades 2 get this reaction? I know some games do, but I thought that Hades's reputation as the bisexual game was strong enough that most people like this didn't even bother. I certainly didn't see any, it's mostly been people thirsting over Hecate in my experience.

To be honest, I am not a fan of the series (although this is perhaps the best game based on Hellenic myths), and I read about it after the release of the second part. So it is quite possible that this information is inaccurate. I’m rather saying that a lot of things that outrage right-wing guys with teenage brains have happened before.
