The temperature was cooling and the leaves were changing color as the end of the year was approaching. Over in the United States, hurricane season was still ongoing. Katrina had left plenty of damage in its wake while also serving as a reminder to have important infrastucture meant to handle such severe weather. New Orleans' reinforced and updated flood protections helped alot with the handling. Additionally, the rapid response of the expanded U.S. Corp of Engineers also helped in handling with the efforts. of course, it was not over yet. Hurricane Rita would be coming, leading to evacuations over in Houston along with concerns about reflooding over in New Orleans, leading to routes done for damage control and getting people to safety. And later on over in October, Hurricane Wilma would come around and hit over at Florida. Fortunately, the growth in flooding and hurricane preparation helped mitigate alot of the damage, but it was still unsurprisingly intense. [1] 2005 would be quite a heavy year for hurricanes. Unsurprisingly, this would have some effects across the nation. From the brief jump in petrol prices to affecting travel and so on, alot of people did their best to prepare. It also helped reinforcement in public transportation, especially buses as buses proved vital for widespread evacuation, especially those without cars. It helped reaffirm the growing trend of medium and smaller cities adopting public transit options such as buses and the like. The Clinton Administration pushed forward in sending aid over to the damaged cities, but also abroad. After all, the Caribbean would also be dealing from the damages and they along with their neighbors in the continents were granting aid and support in rebuilding and handling displaced people by the storm.

And all of this would be in the minds of people when in Novemember would be the United Nations Climate Change conference over in Montreal. After all, plenty of work had been done to addressed the issues, but was it enough? Especially with the potential concern of greater storms and other issues that may arise from it. Efforts would be reinforced and with plans would be aid to help out other nations that have been more trouble with such adaptation. However, the trio of hurricanes over in the United States was not the only issue in the world. Nature also provided quite a large shock over to Kashmir in early October when a large quake struck the area of Azir Kashmir. With a maximum Mercalli intensity of VIII (Severe), the quake killed over 86,000 people and displacing several million more. [2] However, in such times of crisis, opportunity is had to help people. India and Khalistan, long having had frosty relations due to the latter's partial past as Pakistan and the former's issues with how it governed the area prior to Khalistan's formation, would put aside their differences and work together to provide plenty of aid and support over for the people in Kashmir. It was a large step in the two countries making amends, especially on India's behalf. Meanwhile, the Soveriegn Union, China and Afghanistan would go in to help out Kashmir with financial aid and boots on the ground and other nations around the world would soon follow. Some were even to take in the displaced people temporarily or permanantly.

And some losses would be more personal than others. Civil rights activist Rosa Parks, who made headlines when she refused to give up her seat in a Montgomery bus, would pass away from old age in Detroit, living to be 92. She would become the first woman to lie in honor in the United States Capitol rotunda and the nation would mourn her, especially the many people of color who venerated her. [1] It was also a time to reflect back on what had happened and what comes next. Plenty of progress had been made, but there was still alot of work to be done. Parks' death would serve to inspire various African-American artists and musicians, with one prominent example being a revival of riot grrl-inspired hip hop by female artists and musicians of color. Many were also reflecting back on the year. It already is now halfway though the decade. The internet was becoming bigger and bigger with new websites arriving that would promise plenty of big possibilities.

2005 Overview
2005 Overview

As President Clinton would enter his second term, people were surprised at how fast the first half of the decade had flown by. The Clinton Administration had continued on over in looking where to make improvements or tweaks. The minimum wage increase kicked in this year for $8.00 and over all it seemed that the economic prosperity would keep on going for the most part. At the same time, things were a bit bumpy over with the housing market and so on as the infrastructure building was settling down, namely due to alot of the bigger works completed. Clinton's plans for his second term was continuing on with some modest political reforms and ensuring the growth of the economy. One path in particular that was being pushed thanks to Vice President Gore was the continued maintanance and growth of the American public ISP. After all, the internet would keep growing in variety and usage by the year, especially as the interns have become more curious at the new websites. If the youth were showing interest in these new sites, it would benefit to keep an eye on them as they could be signifers for future trends. Some of these new websites would be Youtube and Reddit, which would gather attention for hosting some of the recorded videos over from the Live8 concerts and discussion from them. Indeed, Vice President Gore brought up a proposal for a new office or position focusing over on the American digital landscape. While yes, cybercrime divisions have been relatively newly implemented, one wonders what more could be done or should be done in that matter. Of course, the quiet of the first half of the year would be broken with 2005 hurricane season, giving folks a reminder of the raw power of nature. The damage was devastating and mitigated only thanks to the foresight in reinforcing the flood protections of the areas, especially New Orleans. As such, the latter half of 2005 was busy with rebuilding, resettling and reinforcement through the hurricane-stricken areas. Following in the works of his predecessors, the Clinton Administration went in with a stimulus to help deal with a bit of the economic shock coming from the hurricanes.

This would not be the only big change in the world. The death of Zhao Ziyang marked the end of an era for China and the beginning of another. Ascending into power in the late 1980s, Ziyang was the main figure championing not just economic reform, but also political reform over for the People's Republic of China. He was the one who decided the course for the nation when the Cold War ended, he helped the economy through market socialist-like reform, growing relations with the outside world and empowering the people to take charge for themselves. His successor Wen Jiabao would have big shoes to fill and indeed, looking to focus back on the economy rather than to keep pursuing reforms for the political system. However, much has been set for the people to begin taking more and more power for themselves and Ziyang's death for a democratic China lives on. Elections would keep happening across the world as the left-liberal system was settling in with more central parties or newer ones flexing their muscles on stage. Internationally, things have remained calm for the most part. Some conflicts within various nations, such as in Africa would be ongoing though the growing regional powers would be doing their best to maintain order, even if they needed some outside help regarding the finanacing and the like. Despite this though, things were going pretty okay for the world. There was a general of global tranquility and growing more per year.

The film industry for the year would still be doing quite well. The biggest box office earner would be Star Wars Episode VIII: Inheritance of Duty. Taking place a few years after Episode VII, the film would confirm the long-rumored theories of the passing of the torch. Luke and Mara Jade's pair of twins in Ben and Sara Skywalker (played by Hunter and Scarlett Johansson) along with Han and Leia's son in Bail Solo and the trio becoming more involved in their parents' lives as the New Republic tries to stablize itself. From Sara's drive in being a Jedi compared to her more quiet and sagely brother Ben and Bail being the oldest one, responsible like his mother yet possessing his own sort of roguish streak over like his father. The three become involved in the search for Luke, who had gone missing to try and find the origins of the Jedi and they uncover a new sort of threat that they must try and prepare the Republic for. The film was considered a success with the growing attachment to the new characters and growing mystery on the new threat. Deeper Star Wars fans would note the subtle reference from prequel films and even a couple references from the Old Republic games. Followed up would be a bit of a new fantasy film series with The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It would recieve a healthy reception due to being aimed at the growing teenage audience along with fans of C.S. Lewis' works and even Tolkien fans given how Lewis and Tolkien were friends. Even some of the change made were well-received as it was done to the ease of transition. Already talks with in works for some future films to be made for it. Another would be the long waited final film of The Matrix trilogy in The Matrix: Ascension. Having reached "Firmament", that being the support structure of the cosmos, Neo would continue exploring the depths of existence while having to fight off the "Archons", the creators and maintainers of the world. The final fight would see Neo squaring off against the Demiurge, who takes on his guise. While the clash of ideals start classic Gnostic talks, including referencing the Monad and the physical and spiritual worlds, Neo goes off the script and chastising the Demiurge on a failure to maintain the world properly. Neo seemingly breaks the Demiurge, only for the latter to claim Neo will replace him. Neo's fate was to be cast down or victory, resulting in the world being destroyed and recreated with Neo at the helm. Neo defies this, instead breaking himself into dust and mixing in with the world. In doing so, he recreated the world, but his essence is spread throughout humanity. Neo's final words says that humanity needs to take charge of its responsability and to become active caretakers of one another, indicating that by making himself into dust and speading to everyone, he has begun the awakening of everyone. The film did quite well, even if it was rather mind-blowing in its mix of Gnostic elements mixed with elements of virtual reality and "God as programmer. The film would also host a trailer for The Animatrix, a collection of animated short films enveloped in one serving as a mix of prequels and side-stories to the trilogy. Other lauded films would be Brokeback Mountain, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Hitch, Their Eyes Were Watching God and so on. Yet another major film would be famed director Christopher Nolan creating a Batman film over with Batman Begins. Focusing on a more down-to-earth Bruce Wayne as Batman, it combined modern sensibilities and tech along with the unique comic atmosphere, with Christian Bale as the titular Batman himself along with a star-studded performance that would continue to get audiences over in superhero films, even with the lingering questions of live action vs animation.

Though speaking of animation, that would also do well here. Disney would dominate with the release of two films. One would be Treasure Planet II, a sequel to the first Treasure Planet. The film shows Jim as an exemplary if rebellious cadet and clashing with the other ace cadet, the intelligent and ambitious Katherine Blake. However, the two are forced to work together when they discover a conspiracy with the instigator being a notorious pirate known as Ironbeard. Despite Treasure Planet's destruction, much of the gold was salvagable and moreover, the tech would become priceless, with it being reengineered for the Terran Empire. One such result was an experimental new ship with greater speed and not reliant on the sails, "the Centurion". Said ship becomes the target of Ironbeard, who hopes to use it to achieve an unending crime spree. Long John Silver returns to aid them while the rest of the cast work to try and come up with a countermeasure. The film became a surprise hit with a couple of twists, including the death of Silver himself in a shocking scene. The film also had parallels to the sunset of the Age of Sail, with the Centurion representing the rise of steamships. The second film would be Pixar's superhero film in The Incredibles, which would take place in early Cold War. Superheroes forced into hiding only for Mr. Incredible and his family coming up to save the day. The film became a blast and quite enjoyable, with a couple of commentators jokingly calling it the best "Fantastic Four" film (which also referenced the F4 film that was cancelled last year out of uncertaintly of viability.) Over all, it was another success over for Disney. Dreamworks meanwhile came out with something quirkier regarding zoo animals over with Madagascar. It also would have a trailer over for with for another animated film in Dreamworks' The Revenge of Monkey Island, the second in what would like be a series of Monkey Island film adaptations, albeit being a bit more creative with source material and introducing a couple new characters over time. One infamous one would be Jack Sparrow, a quasi-mentor and eccentric friend to Guybrush on piracy, relationships and shannigans, being voiced by Johnny Depp. The film would continue to good success as Bluth continued with the charm and development of his style. The film would have trailer for two upcoming films. One would be the third Monkey Island film and the second a Dragon's Lair film which would be in 3D CGI albeit cel-shaded. Bluth noted he was excited on the latter for the chance to freshen up and revamp his characters. Of course, a dark horse hit would be from Warner Bros Feature animation with an animated adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. While originally considered as a live action film, they switched gears out of concern of fitting with the original film and instead switched gears for doing it animated with more creative liberties, with one animato jokingly noted that the design was based on "Santa's workshop on acid and based on candy." From the Oompa-Loompas being definitely not human (with them even mocking theorists in asking if they be fey, living toys or homunculi) to the eccentricity of Mr. Wonka himself. At the same time, the story focuses on Charlie, who is a little more proactive in his wonder and even interacts with the kids to a degree. In turn, the children have depths to them and nice moments (from Augustus sharing food with Charlie, Veruca sulking at lack of time with parents, Violet's inferioity complex along with being kind to Charlie and Mike's desire for recognition and importance), while showing their flaws. Flaws that albeit are more indicitive of their parents' failures (something Wonka himself reinforces). Wonka himself is fleshed out as a form of mad artist seeking an heir to share his wonder, and views Charlie as a superior successor for being cautious, proactive and caring. The film would be viewed as a cult classic even if still a fair bit are torn on the creative liberties. And of couse, another dark horse was Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit

Television also kept on growing. Crime drama saw a new Law And Order show over with Trial By Jury showcasing the events of the court while a new one in NUMB3RS was one that promoted how mathematics is utilized in mystery-solving along with the logistics and importance of it. Medical dramas would see a big hit with Grey's Anatomy while a new type of drama would be seen over in The Office, showcasing office politics with eccentric humor along with showcasing the transition of the economy from what people recognized of the 1990s to something new. For the more fantastically minded, there was Supernatural and and even something somewhat more down to earth with Everybody Hates Chris, a semi-biographical account of Chris Rock's years as a teenager in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Animation meanwhile would continue to boom especially. Cartoon Network ventured further into action with a big hit in Ben 10. Created by Man of Action, including the newcomer of Dwayne McDuffie, it showed biracial kid Benjamin Tennyson becoming connected to an alien device in the Omnitrix that allows him to shapeshift into ten different alien forms in Cannonbolt, Diamondhead, Four Arms, Grey Matter, Heatblast, Ripjaws, Stinkfly, Upchuck, Wildvine and XLR8. Alongside his cousin from his dad's side of the family in Gwen and their paternal grandfather Max, the two's summer is involved in crimefighting and fighting alien menaces. McDuffie's arrival was relatively last-minute, but his world building and efforts were very much appreciated. However, the bigger boom happened in Toonami with the additional of new anime, especially the power trio that would dominate the western anime scene for many kids growing up at the time and make it mainstream over with Naruto, telling the story of the titular ninja, Bleach, inspired by samurai and the afterlife and One Piece, a pirate anime and for both, becoming major players. Other shows that would be introduced and become popular would be Bobobo Bobo-Bobo and Zatch Bell. Nick meanwhile continued with most old shows and planned Marvel stuff though one new original IP would catch on in large attention over with Avatar: The Last Airbender, an anime-inspired wonderland that would really kick things into high gear over for the channel. Disney would be still doing well, riding high with successes like Kim Possible though also expanding a bit more over on Disnippon more and more. MetroKids meanwhile would continue on despite a bit of the troubles though the creation of a new Star Wars animated series would help keep it afloat and interest in the channel, allowing to experiment a little more, such as with a magic themed supehero in American Dragon Jake Long along with still airing some other shows, including fom KidsWB, who many suspected may cut a deal regarding some of the shows, perhaps going to a new channel. As for adult animation, well Futurama is still on going, but the big news would be the end of Family Guy, the project by Seth McFarlene, Matt Stone and Trey Parker. The show would wrap up and McFarlene along with Stone and Parker were discussing ideas for a new show, especially as they had gotten to one another and share commong ground. Overall, things were looking good in animation.

Video game meanwhile would gain some attention as each of the big three would start leaking out information of potential new consoles. For now, the Nintendo Gamecube, the Sony Playstation 2 and the Microsoft-Atari Abox continued on in their console wars. The Nintendo Gamecube would see Star Fox Assault, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Pokemon X/D: Gale of Darkness, Mario Party 7 and others, such as Kameo: Elements of Power coming over from RARE, who had become a subsidiary over of Nintendo though could still make some games for other consoles, such as the aforementioned Kameo. Meanwhile, the Super GamePal would see a new Pokemon game in Pokemon: Emerald Version and a new Mario game with Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time along with a Cyberknight Ziro and Megaman Battle Network games. Sony's Playstation 2 meanwhile would keep strong with games like Gran Turismo 4, Tekken 5, Dynasty Warriors 5, DragonQuest VIII, Devil May Cry 3, and Sly III: Honor Among Thieves and so on, with fans eagerly awaiting the release of Kingdom Hearts II for the west next year. The big fascinating game though would be Wonder Woman: Demigoddess, a rated T game that shows Diana end up in conflicts with some of the Greek gods along with shoutouts both to Greek mythology, but also her own comic lore too. The Abox continued on over as well with a few games though it was becoming apparently, they were preparing for their new console in the Abox NX while Sony would surprise with them entering the handheld console market over with the Playstation Portable. Ubisoft continued with more main console games like Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge and indie titles as well like Psychonauts. As for PC, World of Warcraft would become increasingly popular and more over the months with other games being Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords, Guild Wars, Quake 4, Call of Duty, Civilization IV and Battlefield 2. Overall, it was a fascinatingly growing year,

Yup, no God of War series. Instead we get a Wonder Woman game that is somewhat similar though not as violent and with a bit more cartoony graphic. Maybe cel-shaded style. And yeah, I figure they'd make Ben biracial from inspiration or homage to McDuffie, so Ben's mom and her family would be African-American. And of course, aliens are a bit more consistent and a bit different starting out.

Remember to ask any questions or so on regarding stuff of 2005!

Comedy would still be around such as sitcoms known as Drake and Josh. Some of the major new cartoons would be Megas XLR, a obot show aimed at an older audience along with Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, an animated series staring a fictional version of the band of the same name and their misadventues in dealing with American and Japanese society on Cartoon Network along with a sequel to the Justice League animated series in Justice League Unlimited, which would see the inclusion of many many more DC heroes and villains to be seen. Disney would move on ahead with the creation of its new Jetix bloc, bringing in shows like Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! and W.I.T.C.H. along with Bobby Phantom, an adaptation of their comic property of the same name and then of course their own anime block in Disnippon! Nick would still be doing quite well with the developments of their own projects, especially with rumors circulating of them interesting in buying the TMNT franchise. MetroKids and KidsWB were not doing as well, though the announcement of a new Star Wars animated series for the former would attract quite a bit of interest. Anime continued to grow and prosper on different levels. Overall, television was still in a bit of a struggle but doing all right.
Cool, but what's Bobby Phantom?

And what's Disnippon!?

But does Nick get in the action field?

And what's MetroKids and Kids' WB airing?

And how's Toonami and Adult Swim doing?

Any other channels airing anime at this point?

Cool!

And I see that Toonami is still very popular!

Well, there should be a new Fantastic Four toon out next year IOTL.

It's nice that Disney's doing well, but what can be in place for MetroKids and Kids' WB?

Also, good to see Family Guy ending.

What's gonna replace it?

How about some more serious adult animation?

Cool, but what's Bobby Phantom?
Bobby Phantom is basically a modern update on the Archie Comics superhero Bob Phantom though here, the reimagining is moe akin to Danny Phantom.
And what's Disnippon!?
Disnippon is Disney's anime bloc.
But does Nick get in the action field?
I mean, they own Marvel and they just releaed Last Airbender.
And what's MetroKids and Kids' WB airing?
Kids WB same as OTL and may likely close a it works on relations with Turner. MetroKids is kinda a combination of old obscure animated shows, Power Rangers reruns, and the new Star Wars animated series along with some growing others such as Amercan Dragon Jake Long.
And how's Toonami and Adult Swim doing?

Any other channels airing anime at this point?
Both are doing good! Toonami has Bleach now and Adult Swim focusing more on western adult animation ather than just older anime (though likely still gonna get some like Evangelion). As for other channels, probably some obscue anime-exclusive ones

Cool.

But MetroKids needs new shows ASAP! Unless all the new stuff is on MetroFamily.........

And anything of note from Adult Swim? Anything like an Western equivalent of Cowboy Bebop or something like Welcome to Ettingville?

And what does Disnippon air?

Yeah, MetroKids is in a bit of a lurch though they do have some stuff from 4Kids and so on going for them. They got just enough popular stuff to keep them afloat as they try and stabilize.

As for Disnippon, starting back in 2004, the original lineup was: Hamtaro, Cardcaptor Sakura, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Princess Nine, Slam Dunk and Azumanga Daioh.
In general, a fair bit of the cutsie stuff is is on Disnippon along with some sport and shojo. It's a weekend bloc. On occasion would air a Miyazaki thing instead along with later other films.

That's actually nice!

So I'd assume that Jetix airs the more "action-y, sci-fi/shonen"-like anime?

Political Retrospection: 2000- 2004 Part 1
Political Retrospection: 2000- 2004 Part 1

The Anglosphere
The victory of the United Central Party over in the American political system was quite a shocking development. While it was certainly possible mainly thanks to the political reforms made a few years prior, it was still quite surprising that it did not take a long time for the effects to kick in and become apparent. Of course, the flip side to it was how the major two political parties of the US were viewed. The GOP and the Dems were being viewed as, if not out-of-touch, then at the very least not sufficient enough for the younger generation. Especially the GOP, who have not fully recovered from their crashed reputation. As such, many of the more liberal Republicans and the younger voters who leaned toward conservatism created the second iteration of the Federalist Party, coinciding with the rise of neoclassical conservatism. Indeed, with the victory of President Clinton, there would be two growing trends over in the Anglosphere that ended up emerging from the US. One would see more third parties try to go and capture for that sort of center, balancing neoliberal and progressive economics with the new social liberal acceptance. The second was the rise of neoclassical conservatism as the main form of conservatism in these nations. After all, traditional conservatism was what many of them knew and worked for the most part, with its only issues being a lack of maintanance and updating as the times went by. Something that would be acknowledged here in this newer form. Moreover, promoting it as a sort of timeless metapolitical framework for culture regardless as time went by. After all, the conservative view of structure and order could fit nearly anything if its acolytes took the time to use practical thinking and figure out how to maintain it. As for President Clinton himself, he has for the most part brought alot of hope to smaller parties in being able to bring changes though the focus remained more on state-based parties for the time being.

Canada for example would be following over in suit with the United States regarding some of the parallel changes to their political system. They too had transitioned away from first-past-the-post and into a new shift. The NDP would end up losing power in the early 2000s with the Liberals under Paul Martin going into power there and likely heading into reelection for the time being. The Progressive Conservatives meanwhile would begin their slow rise back into prominence under new leadership and after having gone over some of the issues that plagued them in the last several years, including reaching out over across various other provinces and linking with provincial parties such as the Wildrose Party over in Alberta. So far, it was anyone's guess on who was gonna win the next election. Martin was considering retirement pretty soon though the NDP has not recovered from the decline just yet. Some have speculated the Progressive Conservatives may make a comeback under the right leader. However, beyond this, Canada has been doing pretty well. They would garner attention for being the first in the Anglosphere to push for the legalization of same-sex marriage n many of the provinces, being on the cusp of delivering it for the whole nation. This would catch attention over in the Anglosphere and began encouraging people to push for their legislatures to do the same and already the dominos were falling in place as more and more states or provinces were passing their own legislation and their courts ruling bans against it as unconstitutional if they haven't already.

Over in the United Kingdom, Roy Hattersley would finally retire around the time of the next election, leaving the Labour Party having to deal with finding a new leader. While having managed to find one over in John Prescott, the election for the new Prime Minister would surprise everyone as while the Liberal-Labour coalition would still hold, it would be with the Liberal Democrats as the bigger party of them, with the new Prime Minister being Charles Kennedy. The LibDems cheered at this victory and began using it to push for further cooperation over with the European Union along with some potential economic reforms in the nation. The Labour Party meanwhile was trying to figure out how to best move forward. As for the Tories, they would continue on unde Kenneth Clarke as their leader. Some have speculated that potentiall the LibDems may work with the Tories down the line regarding European Union cooperation though such speculation has remained only talk as of yet. Like the rest of the Anglosphere, the UK has been growing and modernizing, trying to find its place. Currently, they were finishing on reforms on the NHS to fix it after some years of neglect and issues on it. Over in Australia, the coalition of the Liberal Party of Australia and the Australian Democrats have succeeded in taking power from the Labor Party over there after a strong showing for several years. Meanwhile, a new coalition would be formed over between the Australian Greens, the National Party and Country Liberal Party out of trying to focus on a balance of agrarianism and environmental-focused policies and New Zealand would continue on over with its reforms and Helen Clark still in charge of the party.

Latin America
Mexico would see the end of the presidency of Cuauhtemoc Cárdenas over when reaching the year 2000. However, his efforts would continue to go on as the PRD would manage to reclaim the presidency once more with Cárdenas being Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, one of the other founders of the PRD. Additionally, the PRD would form a sort of coalition or agreement with the Labor Party and the Convergence Party (formerly known as Convergence for Democracy). This new resurgence of reformers would keep going in their big changes and combat against corruption in the nation while closing the wealth gap. Beyond growing interest over in hemp and now cannabis along with the continued exploration for solar power in the north, the big thing would be the Ledo Administration continuing with their predecessor in working with the Mondragon Corporation. Worker co-ops were becoming more common and even a couple of franchises were becoming worker co-op federations. While it was certainly a bit of an uphill battle to combat the corruption, things were easier now to do so and overall, Mexico would be doing quite all right over in prospering as a nation. Currently, relations were quite stable with the Americans and better than ever, with projects being on potential solar power developments and cross-national rail projects.

Central America would keep seeing the presence of leftish regimes for the time being though struggling to fulfill their ambitions. A combination of infrastuctue investing, a couple of setbacks and other things were slowing matters down. Another aspect was some of the in-fighting between the various groups or with some minorities, such as clashes with the indigenous groups. That said, matters were mostly peaceful as the drug cartels would be more and more crushed. Like their northern neighbor, they would show a vast interest over in co-op opportunities over with the Mondragon Corporation and also see an increased interest over in co-ops. At the same, the nations must balance this with the growing interest by new countries outside of them, especially some of the growing tech companies. Over in the Caribbean, it's a bit more varied depending though both Haiti and the Dominican Republican have also been trying to stabilize from internal problems and dealing with some of the lesser-known problematic trends. Haiti in particular lighting up the question of financial compensation given its debacle over with France and a question that would not be going away anytime soon. Cuba continues to remain a bit of the odd ball. While yes much of the tension between them and the US is gone, the Castro brothers maintain a firm grip on the nation and entirely trustworthy of the American government. That said, they have been seeing some growth and still is on good terms over with the Sovereign Union still.

South America would also be in a similar boat though more stable. Plans to deal with drug users as victims rather than criminals along with the crackdowns have helped things over in Columbia get under control regarding the drug trade. Columbia has also been seeing growing interest with Mondragon along with efforts in communal farming and the like to help. Venezuela meanwhile has been getting some success in courting the big tech companies to set up shop and their proactive approach would net them interesting from various companies, including Sun Microsystems and NeXTech, who were looking to spread out to try and combat Microsoft's dominance. One particular instance would be in Brazil. With Sun Microsystems expanding in Asia, particularly in Japan, it would also see a growing niche over in Brazil and thus would gain support there, thanks to the surprisingly close relations. Of course, this was still with the backdrop of Brazil trying to becoming a growing power in its own right. Besides the plans to try and create a Lusophonic counterpart to the Hispanic Mondragon Coporation with some promise. Additionally, there was still balancing growth with maintaining and safeguarding the Amazon Rainforest, which they are working with Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia with. Peru would see the Plan Verde conspirators executed while Chile would continue on with their plans for a "Project Cybersyn 2.0" though currently stalled due to trying to integrate with all the upcoming new developments on the Internet and the like. They have been increased backing from the Sovereign Union while Argentina was also doing well for itself. Overall, it was surprisingly busy time in South America.

Would like to thank @Mynock for help in English politics and @dieg-ish for Mexican politics.

I had just found this thread and i must say that this timeline is an absolute treat :) . I had a question @CountDVB . In the part that discuss the Lebanese Civil war, i cannot found any references to either the deployment of the Multinational Force in Lebanon (MNF) or the 1983 Beirut barracks bombings. Does this mean both events are butterflied ?

Hmmm... I think something similar happened there, but I don't have my notes on that. I don't think the bombing due to some of the differences going on though I am unsure of the MNF would still be deployed. I think something like it would still happen regarding a force though. Sorry for not much of an answer there ^^;

I will say things did not go as bad down there at the very least.
