What if Arnold successfully surrendered West Point?

Inspired by the previous two threads, how would the Revolution had progressed if Arnold was successful in turning West Point over to the British?

Would it be the crippling blow managing to isolated the North from the South completely?

Also, would Arnold now be thought of higher in British society if he was successful in this plot?

Were the British still in control of the northern reaches of the Hudson and Lake Champlain? I know West Point was vital to the American war effort, but I misremember in what capacity that vitalness was calculated.

I think West Point was preventing the British from reaching those points. It's on the Hudson where it curves and is a natural barricade.

In theory, if the British captured it they'd be able to cut the North off from the South.
