With the right POD, you can make it as big as you like :)

OTL, we no longer have sufficient nukes to wipe the human race ... in fact, I seriously doubt we have enough to wipe out the majority ... plus it's really hard to imagine any semi-plausible chain of events that could ever lead to a maximal exchange ...

ok lets imagine
A ww3 like NATO-WP war in 1981 and USSR uses 6 x SS-20 [ 3 warheads each] in the whole of western Europe and NATO uses 10 x pershing and Lance in return on Eastern europe
SOv navy destroy a CVBG with nuclear SLCM and US uses a nuke on soviet navy base in kamchatka
and then both sides agree on a ceasefire
No strategic nukes used

Will the world end ? both sides have zero interest in escalating this further
What will be the fallout ?
