Okay, so I found this map of Africa on the Imaginary Maps reddit:

...and I have been picturing an Africa in an alternate Earth where the lands of Turkey, Iran and the Arabian Peninsula never physically existed. Combine all of those features, and how would Africa's landmass be affected? Would there still be desert left in North Africa?
 
firstly the lakes are based on that really existed a few thousand years ago but dried up because of climate change. there is evidence that North Africa was a paradise and they have found ruins their from dead unknown civilizations.

also from Egypt to the horn of Africa will be full of trade based cities states, now it is a lot easier to trade with Indian than before.

there are too many other possibilities from such massive changes
